We use digital innovation to preserve our memory and heritage for the future.
Each day our memory is fading, and our cultural heritages – both tangible and intangible – are deteriorating. Some are damaged by humans or force of nature, some are lost, dislocated or no longer accessible. Some are even left to deteriorate beyond recovery because they are no longer of relevance. The endangered memory and cultural heritage need to be preserved urgently before it is too late.
Moreover, as recent incidents that happened to our cultural heritage around the world have shown, physical conservation cannot guarantee that physical objects will last long or forever. Therefore, digitization provides an efficient way to preserve our memory and cultural heritage.
With this in mind, the Arc of Memory has been striving to preserve endangered memory and cultural heritage in digital form at the highest resolution. Researchers and experts on cultural studies, history, digital curation, digital technology and preservation have linked expertise across disciplines and move forward as a team. With our Chula Mobile Archival Unit as well as our studies, researches, and international networks, we aim to digitally preserve and create intellectual and cultural assets.
